Hematology and Oncology News and Issues recently published an article penned by MedAptus' Chief Medical Officer, David Delaney, MD, in conjunction with nationally recoginized coding and billing expert, Jugna Shah, MPH, outlining the benefits of automated infusion charge capture for organizations with increasingly strapped infusion nursing resources. The authors contend that by having access to sophisticated charge capture technology that supports rapid and compliant infusion coding at the point-of-care, nurses have more time to focus on patient care issues, so critical in the outpatient oncology setting. "Facility Charge Capture Automation: Lahey Clinic Moves Closer to Paperless Medicine" - March 2009
Group Practice Journal, the official member publication of the prestigious American Medical Group Association (AMGA), recently featured Lahey Clinic in its cover story on MedAptus' Facility Charge Capture automation. The article, written by Lahey's Director of Professional Coding, Cynthia Trapp, describes the large group's journey to paperless coding and billing processes, first with Professional Charge Capture and more recently, through the widespread deployment of MedAptus' Facility tool for outpatient technical coding. According to the piece, staff feedback regarding adoption of the new tool was "euphoric," given that the technology permits compliant capture of charges in only ten seconds, as opposed to potentially 5-90 minutes per encounter! "Investors Put a $6 Million Charge Into MedAptus" - March 2009
Business publication Mass High Tech profiles MedAptus shortly after the company announced a new round of $6 million in funding. MedAptus Chief Medical Officer David Delaney, MD, is quoted, as is Lahey Clinic. “MedAptus serves a specific role that some of the electronic health records software vendors don’t necessarily address,” said Linda Cagle, senior vice president of clinical services at Burlington-based Lahey Clinic Medical Center. Lahey Clinic and MedAptus Featured on CNBC's "Power Lunch" Program
Lahey Clinic Medical Center, a MedAptus customer since 2001, is a large, multi-specialty, ambulatory care center and 268-bed hospital that serves over 3,000 patients daily. Currently more than 400 Lahey Clinic physicians, clinicians and administrative staff use MedAptus for professional coding and compliance. Given Lahey's reputation as a technology early-adopter, when it came time for CNBC to feature a progressive institution on its "Power Lunch" finance program highlighting the state of healthcare information technology, Lahey was a clear choice. The segment, which aired on the July 24th episode of the widely televised show, includes Lahey's President and CEO, David Barrett, MD, speaking about the institution's adoption of MedAptus.
