"Facility Charge Capture Automation: Lahey Clinic Moves Closer to Paperless Medicine" - March 2009
Group Practice Journal, the official member publication of the prestigious American Medical Group Association (AMGA), recently featured Lahey Clinic in its cover story on MedAptus' Facility Charge Capture automation. The article, written by Lahey's Director of Professional Coding, Cynthia Trapp, describes the large group's journey to paperless coding and billing processes, first with Professional Charge Capture and more recently, through the widespread deployment of MedAptus' Facility tool for outpatient technical coding. According to the piece, staff feedback regarding adoption of the new tool was "euphoric," given that the technology permits compliant capture of charges in only ten seconds, as opposed to potentially 5-90 minutes per encounter! Business publication Mass High Tech profiles MedAptus shortly after the company announced a new round of $6 million in funding. MedAptus Chief Medical Officer David Delaney, MD, is quoted, as is Lahey Clinic. “MedAptus serves a specific role that some of the electronic health records software vendors don’t necessarily address,” said Linda Cagle, senior vice president of clinical services at Burlington-based Lahey Clinic Medical Center.
